An electronically commutated electric motor, in particular for driving fuel pump units for internal combustion engines, which is connected in an axially aligned manner to a feed pump (3) and is inserted into a common housing (5). The electric motor in this case has a stator (7) which is arranged in the housing (5) and has two stator windings (9) through which current flows alternately, and in which a rotor (11) revolves which is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on a rotor shaft (13) which is mounted on the housing. The rotor (11) is in this case formed from a support (27), which is guided on the rotor shaft (13), and magnet segments (29) which are arranged on a circumferential surface of said support (27) and, according to the invention, are held in contact with the support (27) via retaining brackets (33) which are likewise guided on the rotor shaft (13). These retaining brackets (33) are in this case designed such that they provide the centring of the magnet segments (29) during the assembly of the individual components of the rotor (11) and, once all the rotor components have been completely assembled, are then braced via compensation washers (35, 37) in such a manner that they keep the magnet segments (29) pressed radially against the support (27) of the rotor (11). <IMAGE>
