1284825 Releasable fastenings AEROQUIP AG 26 May 1970 [30 June 1969] 25331/70 Heading E2A [Also in Division F2] A chain or cable tensioner comprises a spring-loaded telescopic portion 25 carrying a chain-link retaining jaw 12 and adjustable by means of a thread and nut, 38, 41 the jaw being rapidly unlatchable to release the chainlink from a safe distance by means of a lanyard 65 stored on a reel 64. The end link 13 of the chain &c is held by a member 17 pivoted to the jaw 12 and this is pivoted on a link 18 pivoted on the jaw frame 22. As shown, the spring loading is in the form of a soft helical spring 31 and hard disc, spring 27 and the adjusting nut 38 is indexed by detent 44, and the rod 33 is marked with coloured bands (51, Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) to indicate the degree of tension employed. A latch-pawl 55 is retained by a spring loaded latch-block 61 but is displaced by a collar 68 on the lanyard to release the pawl, to release the link 18 on which the retaining jaw 12 is pivoted, Fig. 5. A piston 32 acts as a damper. |
