<p>A method for the prodn. of polydiorganosiloxanes comprises contacting: (A) an organosilicon cpd(s). having a silanol gp(s). in its mol., the remaining substits. being Si-bonded organic substits. selected from monovalent 1-14C hydrocarbons and monovalent 1-10C hydrocarbons substd. by halogen, mercapto, OH or ester; with (B) a cation exchanged acid treated montmorillonite clay. Also claimed is a further method for the prodn. of polydiorganosiloxanes, comprising contacting: (1) a mixt. of (D) a diorganocyclosiloxane and (C) a triorgano-silyl end-blocker contg. a radical of formula R13Si- (1) R1 = 1-6C hydrocarbon; with (2) (B).</p> |
