<p>A method of substantially removing a silicone fluid or a silicone-containing composition from a surface which method comprises the consecutive steps of a) applying to the surface an effective amount of a monoester compound of the general formula R-COO-X-OR1, wherein X represents a mono- or disaccharide moiety carrying the group -OR1 at the anomeric carbon atom and carrying the group R-COO- at a primary hydroxy group; R1 represents hydrogen, alkyl having 1 - 6 carbon atoms or one of the groups (a), (b) and (c), wherein Y represents methylene or ethylene; and R represents straight or branched alkyl, alkenyl, alkadienyl or alkatrienyl having 4 - 24 carbon atoms optionally substituted with hydroxy; or mixtures thereof; and b) optionally subjecting the surface to a mechanical treatment; and c) removing the silicone fluid and the monoester compound(s) from the surface.</p> |
