Metal hydroxides may be precipitated as solids from a metal-enriched aqueous solution by electrolysis alone and without added reagents when the electrolytic cell is divided into two compartments. The compartments are separated by a bipolar electrode. An opening is provided in the cathode compartment for bubling air or oxygen along the cathode.
