PURPOSE:To provide a method for producing the optical fiber coupler which eliminates the need for selecting the parameters of the optical fibers to be used at the time of producing the optical fiber coupler, of which the optical branching ratio hardly depends on wavelengths. CONSTITUTION:This process for production of the optical fiber coupler comprises aligning plural pieces of the optical fibers 1 and 2 of the same parameter in parallel, then clamping and pulling the front and rear of the parallel aligned part thereof under partial heating, thereby fusing and stretching this part under heating and forming a coupling part 3. Only the front and rear of the one optical fiber 2 are clamped and pulled while the coupling part 3 is heated after the fusing and stretching stage under heating, by which the coupling part is stretched. |
