PURPOSE:To provide the large diameter plastic optical fiber which has good transparency of a core, is small in light transmission loss, is highly resistant to curving, heat and weather and exhibits good productivity by injecting a compsn. compounded at specific ratios as a compsn. for forming the core into a sheath tube consisting of a fluorine-containing org. polymer, than irradiating the compsn. with active energy rays. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. consisting of 40 to 95 pts.wt. compd. expressed by the formula, 5 to 60 pts.wt. aliphat. or aliicyclic urethane poly(meth)acrylate having >=2 pieces of (meth)acryloyloxy groups in one molecule and 0.05 to 5 pts.wt. active energy ray sensitive catalyst (where total of components is 100 pts.wt.) is injected into the sheath forming tube consisting of the fluorine- containing org. polymer and is then irradiated with the active energy rays, by which the core compsn. is cured to form the core. In the formula, R1, R2 denote hydrogen or methyl groups; R3 denotes 2 to 5 straight chain or branch type satd. hydrocarbon group; (n) denotes an integer from 5 to 30. |
