Moisture-proof joint between cable mantles and curable resins, which form cable splice boxes, where an interlayer is heated to cross-link with the mantle and resin or form a tacky joint, is obtd. without cracking and of uniform quality at low cost by using the heat of the exothermal curing process of the resin to effect the cross-linking. The splice box is made in a heat insulated mould, using pref. polyepoxides, polyurethanes as the resins.
