摘要 PURPOSE:To suppress the effect of timing jitter due to the Gordon-Huse effect by using an alternate amplitude soliton subject to optical time division multiplexing in which the amplitude of adjacent soliton is alternately changed for a transmission signal. CONSTITUTION:A soliton pulse train is branched into two series by an optical branching device 103 and a pseudo random modulation of 5Gb/s is applied to one pulse train by an optical modulator 105 and a pseudo random modulation of 5Gb/s is applied to one pulse train by an optical modulator 106 and a delay of 100PS is given by an optical delay line 104. Optical signals of both systems are synthesized by an optical synthesizer 107 to generate a 10Gb/s pseudo random optical signal subject to time division multiplex. The amplitude of the optical pulses of each system after passing through a polarizer 110 are changed by changing the polarized state of each system by polarized light controllers 108, 109 installed in front of the optical synthesizer 107. Thus, an alternate amplitude soliton signal in which the amplitudes of adjacent soliton signals are alternately changed is realized.
