PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a rotor so as to reduce the inertia of the rotor by making an armature coil unnecessary at the time of rotating the rotor by utilizing light energy. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 1 is constituted by radially arranging multiple conductive arms 8 respectively provided with solar battery elements on a transparent substrate 2 and, at the same time, electrically connecting the outer peripheral end sections to each other through a first short-circuit ring 9 and inner peripheral end sections of the arms 8 to each other through a second short-circuiting ring 10. The substrate 2 is constituted so that about a half area of the substrate 2 can be irradiated with external light from its lower surface side through a window section and magnetic fluxes from the direction indicated by the arrow phi are interlinked with each other in the remaining area of the substrate 2 which is not irradiated with the light. Since the arms 8 irradiated with the light generate photovoltaic forces which make potentials higher on the first ring 9 side, electric currents flow in directions indicated by the arrows of broken lines and a rotational torque is generated in the direction indicated by the arrow F by the electric currents flowing through the arms 8 in the area not irradiated with the light and the magnetic fluxes in the direction indicated by the arrow phi. |
