PURPOSE: To improve damming and sealing of a gas generator by providing a rolled-up overlapping damming strip which is brought into contact with a wall at least partially in order to dam outflow openings of an ignition unit of a gas-generating agent in the inside of an inner tube. CONSTITUTION: A tubular gas generator 6 for an impact protection air bag of a motor vehicle has an outer tube 12 made of special steel, and gas exit openings 14 are formed on a peripheral wall of the outer tube. A special steel inner tube 16 arranged coaxially in relation to the outer tube 12 is stored in an inner tube of the outer tube 12. Both ends of the outer tube 12 are closed by disk-like closing covers 28, and disk members 27 are supported, on the one hand, by pellets and, on the other hand, by closing covers 28. A rolled-up overlapping damming strip 2 is provided between a gas-generating agent as the pellets and the inner tube 16. The damming strip is a steel strip that can be avoided a welding process or a bonding process for damming, and which can be obtained opening gas pressure that is constant at all temperature. |
