PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a disk space and to easily perform file management as to the file management system which actualizes symbolic linkage. CONSTITUTION:The file management system has a disk access means 8 which converts the relative position of a block in a file system into a physical position and accesses data at a proper position on a disk 9, and is equipped with a file substance operation means 4, a file system management part access means 7, and an entry access means 62 having an entry operation means 61 which assigns and releases entries of a file management part, and an entry access means 62 which refers to and updates the contents of the entries. Then the entry access means 62 is provided with a function which takes software link information out of an entry.
