The method for removing a particulate material exhausted from the diesel automobile is characterized by (a) filtering the particulate material by using a filtering trap supported with a metal catalyst in the refractory filtering material and a firing agent-inserting device, and (b) igniting the particulate material by the catalytic firing. The refractory filtering material is pref. ceramic foam, ceramic fiber filter, open flow ceramic honeycomb, open flow metal honeycomb, metal foam or metal mesh. The metal catalyst is pref. Pt, Pd, Cr, Co, Fe, Mo, Cu and/or Ce.
