PURPOSE:To prevent leakage and evaporation of ink and facilitate unsealing of package possible by a method wherein one end of a sealing member which seals up an opening of an interchangeable ink cartridge is fixed to the inner surface of a packaging member. CONSTITUTION:An ink supply port and a port communicating with the atmosphere of an interchangeable ink cartridge are sealed up with a sealing member 4. The sealing member 4 is fixed by heat sealing at least at its one end to the inner surface of a packaging member 5, and the interchangeable ink cartridge is sealed up, being wrapped up in the packaging member 5. In unsealing the package, the package is torn up, starting from a notched part 6, and a part that is not sealed up of the ink cartridge is exposed. Then, the exposed ink cartridge and the packaging member 5 are separated. When separating the packaging member and the ink cartridge, it is desirable to turn the ink cartridge in the directions marked with arrows (a) and (b). By such turning, an opening, sealed up with the sealing member 4, of the ink cartridge can be opened, and the ink cartridge can be taken out of the packaging member 5. |
