PURPOSE: To print a high quality image in a color ink by arranging groups of nozzles in a printing head and printing each following strip of a different color on the upper faces of at least two mutually adjacent strips of a first color only after these strips are printed. CONSTITUTION: Groups of three nozzles 22 each representing three different fundamental colors, cyan C, magenta M and yellow G respectively, are mounted on an ink jet printing head 20. The nozzles 22 are arranged at a specified pitch P in the moving direction S of a printing medium and at the same time, the groups are disposed at varying intervals DCM, DMG in the moving direction S. In addition, the printing head 20 is mounted on a carriage traveling in a round trip passage MT. On the other hand, the printing medium is made to move only by an isolation I between lines in the moving direction S. Further, each strip consisting of each color M, G is printed on the upper faces of at least two mutually adjacent strips 24, 28 of a first color C only after the strips 24, 28 are printed. |
