PURPOSE:To facilitate lapping tape replacing work to a lapping machine so as to shorten the replacing time by a large margin by mounting a cartridge for the lapping tape removably to the lapping machine. CONSTITUTION:When a cartridge 10 is fitted to the mounting part 40 of a lapping machine, a part of a lapping tape 22 in the cartridge 10 is held in contact with the surface of a workpiece W by the pressure contact member 45 of the lapping machine, and the surface of the workpiece W is polished by rotating the workpiece W by the function of the lapping machine and imparting vibration to the lapping tape 22. After polishing, the recovery shaft 19 of the cartridge 10 receives torque by an actuator, so that the lapping tape 22 is wound to the recovery shaft 19 by the used part. When the whole lapping tape 22 of the cartridge 10 is used, the cartridge 10 is removed from the mounting part 40 of the lapping machine and replaced with a new cartridge. |
