PURPOSE: To improve photographic characteristics such as the light stability and the light reproducibility of a dye while keeping sufficient reactivity, density and speed by containing a support carrying one kind of a photographic silver halide emulsion layer containing a specific dye forming bicyclic pyrazo based coupler in combination. CONSTITUTION: This photographic element contains the support carrying at least one kind of the photographic silver halide emulsion layer containing the dye forming bicyclic pyrazo based coupler having full substituted carbon at the 6-position. The dye forming coupler contains a ballast fragment containing a group containing a substituted aryl group bonded with a group containing a secondary group selected from carbon amide, carbamoyl or the like through a hetero group selected from a group composed of oxy, thio and amine. The ballast connection group atα-position to the bicyclic ring is a substituted methylene group and the aryl group contains at least one >=10C (optionally substituted) alkyl or alkoxyl substituent.
