STRIP PIECE AND ITS FORMATION

PURPOSE: To provide a strip having a selected color and flexibility by forming of at least partly of elastomeric material and providing with a surface layer applied by spray coating in a part of one surface. CONSTITUTION: A composite door seal has a seal portion 1 integrally extruded from an elastomeric material and an edge trim portion 3. The portion 3 incorporates an integrated flap seal portion 5 and has a metallic carrier 7 formed therein. A combination seal and an edge trim have a bead 11 connected to it by a thin tear strip portion 13, and both the bead 11 and the tear strip portion 13 are formed of the same elastomer as the remainder of the combination seal and the edge trim. Since the bead 11 upstands from a surface of the seal/edge trim, it forms barrier allowing one external or visible surface area of the seal/edge trim to be spray coated with a colored spray coating 9a.
