PURPOSE:To provide a video telephone system in which a device cost can be reduced. CONSTITUTION:In a video telephone system in which the mutual communication of a picture and a voice with plural terminals is operated by using at least a picture compression and extension processing means 10, the picture compression and extension processing means 10 is equipped with a picture storage means which stores each picture data from the plural terminals, plural picture storage means, selecting means which selects one picture data from among each picture data stored in the picture storage means, reading means which reads the previous picture data of the picture data stored in the picture storage means, decoding means which decodes the picture data and the previous picture data, and writing means which writes the picture data decoded by the decoding means in the empty picture storage means among the plural picture storage means. Thus, each picture data can be decoded by a time-division processing, and not plural but only one means is necessary as the decoding means of the picture compression and extension processing means 10, so that a circuit scale and the device cost can be reduced. |
