The invention relates to a brush comprising a cleaning plate (2) equipped with orifices (8) travsersed by the bristles (5) and which can be moved between a position in which it is applied on the head (3) supporting the bristles (5) at the base and a cleaning position towards the free end (7) of the bristles (5) where it permits removal of brushing residues from between the bristles (5). The cleaning plate (2) is mounted so as to slide freely along the bristles (5) which constitute the only means for guiding the cleaning plate (2) with respect to the body (1) of the brush.
