PURPOSE: To obtain a stable and exact band gap voltage reference without any temperature dependency. CONSTITUTION: The band gap reference circuit (14) generates a band gap voltage reference (VBG) at the bases of transistors Q1 and Q2 . A reference current signal (IT) is generated by the difference of base/emitter voltages due to the difference of emitter areas between the transistors Q1 and Q2 , and allowed to flow to the collectors of the transistors Q1 and Q2 . A corrected current signal (ITT) generated by a current squaring circuit (16) is poured into the collection of the transistor Q1 so that the collectors of the transistors Q1 and Q2 can have unequal current values. The current squaring circuit (16) squares the reference current signal (IT), and divides it by a sampling current signal (ISC) generated at a current generator/amplifier in order to generate the corrected current signal (ITT).
