PURPOSE:To change a torque characteristic widely so as to be applied best not only to 4WD but also to LSD, transmit larger torque than a viscous coupling, improve durability, and make the coupling and a device function by the same lubricating oil in a fluid viscous coupling and a differential limiting- device. CONSTITUTION:A fluid viscous coupling and a differential limiting-device are composed of a pair of outer rings 4 and 5 having single leaf revolution hyperboloids 10 and 11, an inner ring 1 having a pair of opposing single leaf revolution hyperboloids 2 and 3, rolling elements 14 and 15 coming into line contact with the inner and outer rings 1, 4 and 5, first and second holders 12 and 13 having an inserting hole at a prescribed angle, first elastic members 20 and 23 to energize the outer rings 4 and 5 so as to narrow an interval between orbits of the inner and outer rings 1, 4 and 5 and a second elastic member 24 to determine a prescribed torque characteristic by energizing the outer rings 4 and 5 so as to restrain the interval between the orbits of the inner and outer rings 1, 4 and 5 from becoming narrow.
