PURPOSE:To suppress the degradation of picture quality when binarizing an image by comparing a remarked pixel with the level data of NXM pixels with this remarked pixel as the center while using data after shading correction, identifying a noise component in image data at the level of peripheral data, and complementing the data with interpolation data to be generated from the surrounding pixels. CONSTITUTION:The data after the shading correction forms as area composed of the N pieces of pixels in a main scanning direction x the M pieces of pixels in a sub scanning direction while combining the M pieces of line memories 15 and the N pieces of registers 16 to the respective line memories 15. While using data in this area, a maximum value data arithmetic part 18 calculates maximum level data and a minimum value data arithmetic part 17 calculates minimum level data concerning the other picture elements excepting for the remarked pixel (central picture element). Then, the level of these data is compared with that of central value data by a level comparison part 19, and noise data are decided. Afterwards, the remarked pixel is exchanged with interpolated value data by a selector 21, and the remarked pixel data judged as noise are exchanged with the interpolated value data. |
