PURPOSE:To obtain the image pickup device which has a little defocusing even at the time of panning by changing conditions of restarting from the focusing of an automatic focus adjusting means on the basis of panning detection information. CONSTITUTION:This device has the automatic focus adjusting means and a shake detecting means 7 which detects a shake of an image pickup device body. Further, the device has a panning detecting means 9 which judges panning on the basis of shake information detected by the shake detecting means 9 and a control means which changes the conditions of restarting from the focusing of the automatic focus adjusting means on the basis of panning detection information from the panning detecting means 9. When a panning mode is decided, it is decided whether or not a focusing flag is set. When the focusing flag is set, an AF motor 21 is held still OFF, but when the focusing flag is not set, it is decided whether a defocusing quantity is less than a specific value; when so, focusing is judged, the focusing flag is set, and the AF motor 21 is stopped. |
