PURPOSE:To provide an array probe drive method and apparatus in which the focus of an acoustic lens is allowed to coincide with constantly with the focus of an electron focusing regardless of changes in the sound velocity of a transmission path according to changes of the temperature of the transmission path of ultrasonic waves. CONSTITUTION:A time measuring section 9 for measuring receiving time of a reflected wave in an acoustic lens 2, a sound velocity calculating section 10 for calculating the sound velocity of the acoustic lens 2 from measuring time, a temperature/sound velocity data section 11 for storing a data of the sound velocity with respect to temperature in a transmission medium, and a focus/delay time difference computing section 12 for calculating a focus changed and a delay time difference corresponding thereto are added anew to the conventional transmitting/receiving section 5, a transmission delay section 6, a scanning section 7 and a reception delay section 8. This always makes the focus of the acoustic lens 2 possible to coincide with the focus of an electron focusing. |
