PURPOSE: To improve the specific output of a strip waveguide laser by allowing a strip waveguide surface to also consist of a first electrode and an adjacent insulation material part in the direction of rays, and a second electrode to overlap with the insulation material part in the direction of rays, and the insulation material part to have the specific output of the strip waveguide laser. CONSTITUTION: An electrode 1 and an electrode 2 are arranged at opposite sides regarding a discharge gap 7, insulation material parts 4 are adjacent on both side surfaces of the electrode 1, each one mirror 5 or a mirror 6 is adjacent at the insulation material parts 4, and direct mirrors 5 and 6 are adjacent to the opposite electrodes 2. The electrode 1 and the insulation material parts 4 form a waveguide surface 8 together. Therefore, the insulation material parts 4 are covered with a layer 10 consisting of a material with improved waveguide property, and the waveguide characteristics of the layer 10 can be adapted to the waveguide characteristics of the electrode 1. The electrode 1 and the layer 10 are smoothed together after the electrode 1 is assembled with the insulation material parts 4, thus obtaining a waveguide surface without any radical change in high-quality waveguide characteristics. |
