PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium in which high density recording are reproducing of information are performed in a high speed and the method for recording and reproducing. CONSTITUTION:In the optical recording medium, information tracks are provided on the surface of a transparent substrate 1 with alternatively varying heights. Projecting and recessed parts for address recognition are formed in a first block of odd number higher height tracks by varying track widths and in a second block of even number higher height tracks, projecting and recessed parts are formed by varying track widths. Addresses of odd number higher height tracks are recognized from the first block. Addresses of even number higher height tracks are recognized from the second block. Moreover, addresses of lower height tracks are recognized from the first and the second blocks. |
