PURPOSE:To provide a visual inspection device which can be employed even with images with blurred boundaries to inspect the appearance of any subject for inspection in real-time and at a high speed regardless of the deviation from the correct position of the subject for inspection. CONSTITUTION:An image signal of a subject for inspection which is photographed by a camera 11, is separated by a color-component separation means 12 into a plurality of color components. Frequency-distribution generator circuits 13a, 13b, 13c each generate a frequency distribution of picture elements that constitute an image as to the value of each of the separated color components. Comparator circuits 15a, 15b, 15c compare frequency distributions for each color component, which are outputted from the frequency distribution generator circuits 13a, 13b, 13c, with reference frequency distributions outputted from reference frequency storage circuits 14a, 14b, 14c, and a total judging circuit 16 judges, on the basis of the outputs of the comparator circuits 15a, 15b, 15c, the deviation from a reference of the appearance of a subject for inspection. |
