PURPOSE:To provide the electronic musical instrument which enables a high-level arpeggio performance through easy operation and also enables both a simultaneous sounding performance and an arpeggio performance of chords. CONSTITUTION:A 1st function and a 2nd function are selectively specified with a delay function selection switch and a keyboard part 10 instructs the substantially simultaneous sounding timing of plural musical sounds to be generated substantially at the same time in a musical performance of music; and an automatic key code generating circuit 16 generates key codes corresponding to plural musical sounds to be generated substantially at the same time and applies them to a musical sound generation part 15 which generates the musical sounds and a delay control circuit 32 controls the generation timing of the musical sounds generated by the musical sound generation part 15 so that the musical sounds are generated at the substantially simultaneous sounding timing instructed by the keyboard part 10 when the 1st function is selected, and generated based on the substantially simultaneous sounding timing instructed by the key board part 10 while shifted by a fine time within a musical performance substantially simultaneous range when the 2nd function is selected.
