The machine for grinding and polishing the stone surface comprises; right and left sliding boxes (3a,3b) performing an alternating motion on each rail (4a,4b); right and left columns (6a,6b) connected to both ends of a transverse supporter (11) on each sliding box (3a,3b); an elevator (7) rising and falling between both columns (6a,6b); a tool magazine (23) performing the alternating motion in right or left direction; a spindle (20) placed on a head (21) to make the rotating and alternating motions; motors (13a,13b) connected to respective reducers (14a,14b) placed on the right and left sides of the transverse supporter (11); and an optical sensors (24,25) detecting down widths of the stone.
