PURPOSE:To shorten a battery jar formation time by forming in a battery jar a clad-type positive electrode plate by using an Na2SO4 aqueous solution with a specific concentration. CONSTITUTION:A clad type positive electrode plate is formed in a container by using a 5-50g/l Na2SO4 aqueous solution. The clad type positive electrode plate is prepared with paste containing red lead oxide. If the concentration of Na2SO4 aqueous solution is less then 5g/l, formation voltage must be raised and the amount of power is increased. If the concentration exceeds 50g/l, the solubility of Na2SO4 is lowered to decrease solubility and unnecessary Na2SO4 is left in the electrolyte after completion of formation, resulting in adverse effect on high rate discharge performance. A clad type lead-acid battery with an excellent middle rate discharge characteristic can be obtained. |
