PURPOSE:To divide an image display regions into a plurality of blocks and make display of good performance even at the boundary between the blocks. CONSTITUTION:The image display region of a gas type electric discharge display device is divided into a plurality of blocks each consisting of a plurality of display cathodes 14, and a display anode 16 is divided as corresponding to the blocks. The display cathodes 14 are arranged on a back plate 12 mating with the dividing part of the display anode 16, and display cell is formed at the boundary B between blocks from the display cathode 14 arranged at the boundary B and two display anodes 16 having the dividing end on this display cathode 14. At driving the device, a constant voltage signal or specified current signal are impressed simultaneously on the two display anodes 16 when the display cell at the boundary B between blocks is to be selected. |
