<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic carrier having improved chargeability, uniformity of the charge distribution, mechanical strength and adhesion of the coating resin to the core material by using a polymer having specific molecular weight peaks as the coating resin of the carrier. CONSTITUTION:In this carrier obtained by coating the carrier core material with a resin, the coating resin has a weight average molecular weight of 50,000 to 250,000 and a molecular weight distribution measured by the gel permeation chromatography(GPC), in which a maximum of the distribution curve due to a low molecular weight component appears in the molecular weight region of 10,000 to 60,000 and another maximum due to a high molecular weight component appears in the molecular weight region of 100,000 to 300,000 on the weight basis. Examples of the constituent monomer of the polymer used as the coating resin of the carrier are preferably, alkyl styrenes such as styrene, methylstyrene, dimethylstyrene, octylstyrene and halogenated styrenes such as fluorostyrene, chlorostyrene.</p> |
