PURPOSE:To set a bypass route in a short time and to improve the reliability of a communication network by allowing a hardware provided on each line adaptor section to execute changeover processing of a transmission line or a path automonously when a fault of a transmission line or a VP takes place. CONSTITUTION:When a transmission line is faulty in a line control section header conversion circuit of an ATM communication equipment, a fault RTG setting register 28 stores information from a central processing unit 21 and a comparator circuit 30 compares the outgoing side transmission line selection information from selection tables 24, 29 with in-equipment routing information. When both inputs are dissident, a changeover device 31 selects a content of the selection table 29 and gives the selected content to a changeover device 26. When a fault of a transmission line takes place, an ATM cell outputted to the transmission line is outputted to a transmission line to be bypassed simultaneously when the fault RTG setting register 28 is set, high speed transmission changeover is attained and a path interrupt time is reduced even in the case of a network having no standby transmission line and the reliability, economy and service performance are improved. |
