<p>PURPOSE: To provide a small-size, easy-to-handle pulse compressing device which can compress pulses at a high compression ratio by arranging metallic plates in parallel with the cross section of a waveguide and matching the changes in the cut-off frequency and frequency modulation to each other. CONSTITUTION: Pulses to be compressed are inputted to a transmission line 34 from a transmission line 31 through a separating means 33, such as the microwave circulator. The transmission line 34 is composed of a dielectric substance and metallic plates 41 are fixed to the center of the same side 341 of the transmission line 34. By appropriately selecting the pitch of the metallic plates 41 and the length, height, or width of the transmission line 34, all signals constituting the pulses can be matched to each other so that the signals may become synchronous to each other after reflection on the input port side of the transmission line 34. Therefore, the pulses can be compressed at a high peak output level.</p> |
