Multiple-point method and system for measuring of the roundness profile or the roundness on a rotational piece such as a roll or a cone. The even waveforms of the piece's circular profile are measured with a two-point diameter measurement and the odd waveforms are measured with the multiple-point method at three or more points. The circular profile being measured is formed as the sum of the even and odd waveforms. The system comprises two or more distance pickups and a data collection system. Some of the distance pickups can be replaced by a fixed point such as a roller or glide surface. <IMAGE>
