PURPOSE:To efficiently read an image signal out by shortening the read time of the image signal from a radiation detector after a radiation image is photographed by using an irradiation field stop. CONSTITUTION:When the solid photodetector 2 of the radiation detector 1 is divided into plural sections and the radiation image is photographed by using the irradiation field stop, the image signal S1 is read out of lines A-G and (a)-(f) which extend in both (x) and (y) directions. The image signal S is compared by a comparing means 11 with a threshold value Vref and position information of solid photodetecting elements on lines A-G and (a)-(f) out of which the image signal S1 exceeding the threshold value Vref is read out is stored in a memory 12. The image signal S1 exceeding the threshold value Vref is stored in a frame memory 13. On the basis of the position information, the section of the solid photodetector 2 where the image signal should be read out is determined and an image signal is read out of only this section. The image signal S2 is outputted as an image signal S3 from a device 10 together with the image signal S1 stored in the frame memory 13 and reproduced.
