PURPOSE: To obtain a high operation range and high fineness to a prescribed thickness of a phosphor by applying special processing to the pixel phosphor which was divided into small width. CONSTITUTION: Phosphors are accumulated on a supporting body, and the phosphors thus accumulated are exposed to an excimer laser, whose power is from an electromagnetic wave source, through a mask. With this, the phosphor is ablated into segments so as to obtain a string of construction with respect to both Z and Y directions, thereby manufacturing a pixel phosphoro- array, which is separated by slots. Next, a thin layer consisting of light reflecting material or light absorbing material is formed on the constructive body, covering it. Next, the slots, which are obtained among the pixel phosphors are filled with phosphorescent body having the same composition. The respective pixel phosphors, which are obtained on the supporting body, are separated at the width from about 0.5 to 25μ, and the pixel phosphorescent body is flattened at one's option.
