BICYCLE CARRIER

A bicycle carrier for fixedly retaining a bicycle on a vehicle roof (1) comprises a carrier device (2, 3) fastened to the vehicle and having a longitudinally extending support rail (4) for the wheels (5) of the bicycle and an upwardly extending fork (7) with agripping device (8) for gripping a frame tube (9) of the bicycle. The gripping device (8) has two clamping jaws (14) provided pivotable towards and away from one another the clamping jaws (14) being interconnected via a cog arrangement (18). One of the clamping jaws is connected to a draw bar (21) having its lower end connected to an operating member at the lower end of the fork (7).
