A method and an apparatus for the drying of textiles, specifically for the drying of those textiles which, such as jeans, are to be provided with wash-out effects, there being provided a cylindrical drying drum, through which heated air is blown during the drying operation, at the same time with a rotational movement of the drum, are to be provided, in which the drying operation can be designed in such a way that chemical aids can be dispensed with. For this purpose, there is provision, according to the invention, for the drying drum to be arranged and driven with its axis horizontal, and for arranging in the drum additional mechanical processing means in the form of freely movable timber bodies which subject the textiles to mechanical load during the operation of rotating the drum.
