Device for easily extracting books, documents or records from a box without damaging them and without damaging neighbouring volumes. It consists of a door which can be detached at the front on a horizontal axis, with only a few millimetres of movement. The door can also be detached on a vertical axis. Once the door has been taken off, the edges of the books, documents or records can be seen. A shelf (9), positioned underneath these items, enables them to be withdrawn easily by means of a tag (4) at the front. The path of the shelf (9) is limited by one (or two) springs fixed to the stop (10) and connected by a loop to the inside back face (14) of the box. The device according to the invention makes it possible not to move the box from the shelf while allowing its contents to be used intensively. <IMAGE>
