<p>The proposed hybrid aircraft comprises a housing (1) in the form of a thick central wing with a vertical open conduit (2) in which is accommodated a lift propeller (4). The aircraft in addition has side wings and a tail assembly (8), as well as landing gear onan air cushion (19) around the conduit outlet. The aircraft power unit comprises two engine units (13) mounted at either end of the conduit (2) and connected to the lift propeller (4) and cruise propellers (12). The cross-sectional area of the conduit in the plane of rotation of the lift propeller is 0.3 to 0.8 that of the landing gear air cushion, which allows the aircraft to land safely on unsurfaced landing areas even when one of the engine units malfunctions.</p> |
