Zirconium - iron vanadium alloy - which resists high temps and is esp suitable as nuclear reactor components

Zirconium alloy contg. 0.5-1.5 wt. % Fe and 0.05-0.10 wt % V which can be used in water/steam environments at temps. exceeding 500 degrees C. In nuclear environments impurities are controlled according to the standard ASTM B 349-67. Under non-nuclear conditions the alloy can contain =3 wt % Hf and =1 wt % total of other impurities without losing its corrosion resistance these alloys are chiefly used as tubes or structural members in nuclear reactors. Their high resistance to corrosion and their neutron absorption properties make them esp. suitable for this purpose.
