The working life of a hot blast valve is increased and the cooling water flow reduced by providing the valve flap with a cooling circuit comprising ribs on its two faces to give a rational fluid circulation without internal leakages between adjacent channels. The arrangement reduces mechanical and thermal stresses on the valve flap and sealing rings.
