This is a signalling flare/rocket which contains a percussion initiation system, a propulsion system and a signalling system which incorporates at least three pyrotechnic charges and two fuses. The initiator system consists of a metallic container 3, a spring 4, a percussion device 5, a capsule 6 and a capsule holder 7. The pyrotechnic charges may have a composition (by weight) based on magnesium (30-33%), strontium nitrate (54-57%) and polyvinyl chloride (13-16%), and they provide a luminous signal of intense red colour. Other pyrotechnic charges which may be used incorporate potassium perchlorate in addition to the other three components mentioned above. These flares/rockets are used for indicating a state of danger or emergency and/or for requesting assistance, and are specifically suitable for use in sea-going craft. <IMAGE>
