摘要 Prodn. of transparent SnO2 films on a heated substrate uses a gaseous mixt. initially composed of (a) a F contg. organo Sn cpd. (I) free of any direct Sn-F bands; (b) an oxidisable Sn cpd. (II), and (c) an oxidising gas. Cpd. (I) is converted by molecular rearrangement into an organo Sn cpd. (III) contg. direct Sn-F bonds, and simultaneously oxidised at the surface of the heated substrate to give a F doped SnO2 film on the substrate surface. The films are used as electrically conducting layers, very transparent to visible light, but strongly reflecting IR rays, in the prodn. of photoelectric or solar cells and batteries, photoconducting cells, liquid crystal electron-optical display units, photo-electrochemical cells and other optico-electronic devices. They can also be used as transparent de-icing compsns. for glass windscreens. Applied to glass the heat reflecting coatings increase the efficiency of solar heat traps, house windows, ovens, sodium vapour lamps, as well as the insulation of glass fibres. No corrosive by-products such as Cl2 or HCl are formed which can give a haze on the glass surface or the metals of the surrounding framework.
