The invention relates to a switchgear cabinet having a cabinet compartment which can be closed by means of a cover, it being possible for the cover to tilt about a horizontal axis and forming a horizontal surface facing the user in the tilted state, on which a PC keyboard or the like can be placed or is placed, and it being possible to fit a work surface in a working position associated with the PC keyboard or the like. A switchgear cabinet in which an additional work surface is fitted in a simple manner, which work surface makes it possible to operate a computer mouse in an ergonomically favourable manner is characterised in that together the cover and the horizontal surface form a receptacle in which the work surface or work surfaces is or are accommodated such that it or they is or are withdrawable.
