A parallelepipedic, rectangular packaging container for a plurality of elongate articles which are to be accommodated parallel to one another and separate from one another has a receiving part and a closure part which engages around the latter relatively tightly, in each case having transverse large side surfaces and end faces which connect said side surfaces with a relatively small spacing and a bottom surface which is located opposite an open end side. The end faces of the receiving and closure part which connect the large side surfaces and are perpendicular thereto consist in each case of two diverging surface sections which merge into the respective large side surfaces and an end-face section which is perpendicular to the large side surfaces. The end-face section of the receiving part is provided, over its longitudinal extent, with a plurality of spaced-apart projections. Near to the open end side of the closure part, each end-face section of the latter has a knob which projects inwards and interacts in an engaging manner with the projections on the end-face section of the receiving part.
