摘要 PURPOSE: To provide the registration of a color image on a photodetector belt. CONSTITUTION: A couple of mountain-shaped or 'V'-shaped register marks 10 and 12 are formed on the surface of a belt 14 which moves as shown by an arrow 16. A scanning beam from ROS sweeps crossing the surface of the belt 14 to repeatedly form continuous scanning lines 30. The scanning beam is modulated not in a no-image area, but in an image area where a color latent image is formed. An ROS image formation station has a couple of detection devices 32 and 34 corresponding to it. Each detection device receives light reflected by a mark when the mark moves into an ROS scanning area. When each scanning line crosses the leg part of the mark 10, two signals are generated by a relative sensor. The signals are compared to calculate an detection of an intersection by extrapolation, thus generating a registration signal.
