An engine block structure for minimizing engine vibrations and noises comprises a cylinder head, a cylinder block mounted to a lower portion of the cylinder head, a bearing cap secured to a lower portion of the cylinder block, an outer hollow shell coupled to the lower portion of the cylinder head for enclosing the cylinder block and the bearing cap, and an oil pan connected to a lower portion of the outer shell. The outer shell is isolated from the cylinder block and the bearing cap to provide a space therebetween. In addition, the outer shell has a plurality of latticed reinforcing ribs integrally formed at its outer periphery to increase the rigidity thereof.
